At Kraun, health and safety are more than a bunch of rules to follow.
Kraun is committed to ensuring the health and safety of all our workers, from the office to the field. We work diligently to ensure all employees are up to date on health and safety training.
Manual and Handbook
We have a comprehensive Health and Safety Manual, written and maintained in-house by our own Health & Safety Specialist and tailored to Kraun’s specific work activities, systems, and processes. We have also created an Employee Health and Safety Handbook that functions as a quick-reference guide to the manual. It contains explanatory material navigating the manual and policies, helpful information about safety concepts, and brief summaries of key safety policies.
Custom Safety Talks
In addition to the Employee Handbook, we maintain an in-house library of safety talks, which are specifically written to provide training on the contents of our safety policies. Our Site Supervisors deliver scheduled weekly safety talks to their crews, ensuring all employees are aware of the rules and expectations surrounding work at heights, equipment operation, tool use, and other safety topics covered in the Health and Safety Manual.
Emergency Response
We have documented Emergency Response Plans that address the specific needs of our Construction, Residential Service, ICI Service, and Office teams.
Digital Safety System
At Kraun, we utilize a digital safety management system that is compatible with both desktops and mobile devices to streamline and centralize all our safety documentation. This is where we complete and store all of our safety forms – no more lost paper copies! This system also serves as a resource library, where all employees can access the Safety Manual, Employee Handbook, safety talks, ERPs, and more, at any time and from anywhere.
New Hire Onboarding
All new hires at Kraun receive a thorough health and safety onboarding package to introduce them to our safety system and prepare them for work in the field. The onboarding package includes a welcome lunch with department managers, a presentation on key safety policies and practices, provision of PPE including hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves, and an online training program that covers legislated requirements and construction safety essentials.
Mandatory Glasses and Gloves
At Kraun, we go above and beyond the minimum PPE requirements in the OHSA. Safety glasses and cut gloves are mandatory for all of our field staff to protect against eye and hand injuries. Team members receive an annual PPE allowance to purchase the necessary gear.
