Kraun Electric Inc. Privacy Statement

At Kraun Electric, we take the issue of privacy seriously. We respect the rights of both our customers and our prospective customers, and we are committed to protecting all personal information in our possession. This policy was developed in accordance with the rules and guidelines issued by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

For the purposes of this privacy policy, “personal information” refers to information about an identifiable individual, defined by applicable privacy legislation.

The term “individual” will be used throughout this document and refers to customers (current, former and prospective), or any other non-employee with whom Kraun interacts.

The 10 Fair Information Principles

Principle 1: Accountability

Kraun Electric is accountable for all personal information in our possession or control. We have appointed a Privacy Officer to ensure that we are meeting all the requirements set out in PIPEDA. We are committed to training our employees on how to handle personal information, how to respond to questions, and what to do if there is an information breach.

Principle 2: Identifying Purposes

Kraun Electric has identified clear reasons for why we collect personal information. We have determined the type of personal information we need to collect. We let our customers know why we need their personal information at or before the time of collection.

Principle 3: Consent

Kraun Electric will collect, use or disclose personal information with the consent of the individual, except where collection, use or disclosure without consent is permitted or required by law.

Principle 4: Limiting Collection

Kraun Electric will collect only the personal information we need to fulfil the identified purpose.

Principle 5: Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention

Kraun Electric will use and disclose personal information for only the identified purpose for which it was collected. We are committed to responsibly managing the collected personal information. We will keep personal information only for as long as it is needed.

Principle 6: Accuracy

Kraun Electric will keep personal information as up to date, accurate and complete as possible.

Principle 7: Safeguards

Kraun Electric protects collected personal information with safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.

Principle 8: Openness

Kraun Electric is open about the procedures and policies in place to protect the personal information we collect.

Kraun Electric will advise individuals about the personal information we keep about them, how we obtained the information, and how we have used it.

What Type of Personal Information Do We Collect?

How Do We Get Personal Information?

We may collect or obtain personal information because you provide it to us or because it is publicly available. During our interactions with you, we may record parts of our conversation to enhance and customize the overall customer service experience.

We may collect the following personal information:

  • name
  • address
  • phone number
  • email address
  • payment card number, if applicable
  • payment card expiry date, if applicable
  • banking information, if applicable
  • purchase history
  • customer satisfaction info
  • details of how individuals use our services
  • details of how individuals like to interact with us and other similar information

We collect banking and/or credit card information from customers who purchase, rent, subscribe, or otherwise receive our products or services if payments are to be debited directly from their bank account or applied to their credit card.

Automated Information Collection - when people visit our website (kraun.ca), we may also collect:

  • Information about their computer, including IP address, the type of operating system and browser in use, and the computer’s location
  • Pages visited on our website, and links clicked on

Why Do We Collect This Information?

Kraun Electric collects personal information when providing or discussing our services with customers or potential customers when individuals use our website or any other activities related to the operation of Kraun Electric.

• We will also disclose personal information if we are required by law to do so.

Who in the Organization Collects Personal Information?

To better provide our potential customers with great service, we may share personal information among the employees required to perform services. We will share an individual’s personal information with employees for this reason only.

How Do We Obtain Consent?

When customers provide us with personal information to complete a transaction or verify your credit card, we assume they consent to us collecting it and using it for that specific reason only.

If we ask for personal information for a secondary reason, like marketing, we will either ask directly for consent or provide an opportunity to say no. Individuals can say no by “opting out.” By opting out, they can tell us not to collect the information.

How Do Customers Opt-Out?

We give individuals the right to opt-out of receiving information from marketing by providing an option to unsubscribe or choose not to receive information on promotions, contests, or any other promotional initiative. They can opt-out by selecting the “unsubscribe” button on emails, or by checking the following box: “I do not wish to receive updates on promotional information from Kraun Electric.”

B. Access to and correction of personal information

What if a customer wants to know what information we have about them?

Individuals have a right to access and correct the personal information we have about them. If someone asks to see their information, we must comply.

C. Retention and disposal of personal information

Kraun Electric keeps an individual’s personal information on file for:

• as long as is necessary for us to provide products and services to them;
• any retention period required by law or professional standards;
• as directed by any Kraun Electric policies or practices, depending on the nature of the information held;

Any obsolete printed records containing a customer’s personal information will be disposed of in a compliant manner. Obsolete digital records will be permanently deleted or archived with administrator access only.

D. Responsible use of information and information technology, including administrative, physical and technological security controls and appropriate access controls;
• Kraun protects personal information by using physically secure facilities, industry standard security tools and practices, and clearly defined internal policies and practices.
• Personal information is stored in secure environments that are not accessible to the public (locked rooms and filing cabinets, secure facilities, electronic information has restricted access and is password-protected).
